An Architect Designed Holiday House That Overlooks The Costa Rican Jungle

Architect Benjamin Garcia Saxe has designed a holiday house that overlooks the jungle in Costa Rica.

A description from The Modern House

The Floating House, designed by award-winning Costa Rican architect Benjamin Garcia Saxe, offers a unique living experience floating above the canopy of the jungle. It combines expansive ocean views, luxury interiors and an infinity swimming pool, within walking distance of the beach.

The house is made up of three pods, connected by bridges and walkways. It is fitted with sustainable teak floors, solar water heating and UV water filtration systems. The main open-plan living space has a solid teak dining table that seats eight.

The kitchen is fitted with a breakfast bar and central island, complete with stove and cooker, for preparing meals whilst overlooking the jungle. The lounge, framed by floor-to-ceiling glass concertina doors, has low sofas and handmade love chairs for relaxing in and making the most of the jungle and ocean views.

An impressive 24m corridor connects the main living space to the two upstairs bedrooms and the huge open-air, bamboo-lined, spa bathroom. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and the second bedroom contains a queen-size bed and a single bed.

Both rooms have wooden concertina shutters that open onto the terrace and views of the waves rolling in. The third bedroom, downstairs, is more compact with a double bed, en suite toilet and shower. All of the bedrooms have AC and a ceiling fan.

The infinity swimming pool, which sits below the house, allows you to enjoy the sunset, watch the waves and listen to the chorus of parrots and monkeys which live alongside you in the tree canopy.
