A Landscape Of Moss Covered Rocks Surrounds This Coffee Shop Inside A Bookstore
Nota Architects have recently completed Seesaw Coffee, a new coffee shop in Beijing, China, that’s located within a bookstore.
A stepping stone path leads through a mist-covered landscape with mossy rocks and sand, to a wooden ‘ship deck’. The mist-covered landscape represents the water surface that surrounds a ship.
The deck provides a place for seating and for service. A small and open hut with a black roof and mirrored sides, provides a place for staff to prepare food and drinks.
Blocks of wood and planters customized at high and low levels form an outdoor garden where customers can sit by themselves or with friends.
A sales display has been placed alongside the large expanse of windows, while customized lamps have been scattered throughout the cafe, highlighting different elements.
Here’s a look at the layout of the coffee shop that shows the path leading from the bookstore to the ‘deck’.
